Join your host Doug Winkel for a lively afternoon of Irish poetry read by a cast of talented local actors.

Special guest readers include Roxbury luminaries Ellen McCourt, Ann McDonough Gilpin, Jenny Schuck, Kimiye Corwin, and Jesse Liebman. All actors with experience on stage, television, and film, these readers bring life and emotion to the poems.

Doug Winkel, former Shepaug High School English teacher and theatre director will moderate informal discussions about each poem and help the audience explore, among other things, the poems’ forms and symbols, as well as the context and scope of each piece. Audience participation, input, and questions are encouraged!

From memories of the Irish countryside to the effect of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, you’ll be sure to discover something new about poetry on the Emerald Isle.
