Opera in the Baroque Period

January 19 @ 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Opera is a distinct creation of the baroque period around the early 17th century. With elaborate sets, costumes, lighting, acting, dancing and singing, it has remained one of — and perhaps the—most ambitious genre in the standard canon of western art music.

Join us on Zoom where we will consider operas by early innovators including Claudio Monteverdi and George Frideric Handel.

With Dr. Gil Harel , Musicologist/Music Theorist and Assistant Professor of Music a Naugatuck Valley Community College.
