Larkin at 101: Life & Poetry

January 31 @ 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Free

Larkin at 101 is a celebration of the life and work of Philip Larkin, who was born in Coventry in 1922. Larkin was not a prolific writer, but by the time of his death in 1985, his four small volumes of poetry had won him a reputation as one of England’s greatest poets of the 20th century. The program includes an introduction to Larkin’s life and a reading from among his most celebrated poems.

Bruce Coffin and Christopher Sweeney were teachers at Westover School in Middlebury, Connecticut. Bruce taught English and ran the poetry program there after teaching at other independent schools in England and America; he is also the author of two memoirs, the Long Light of those Days, and Among Familiar shadows Christopher taught English, history, and Latin and coordinated Westover’s community service program.
