Ms. Mills, winner of many awards, has exhibited widely throughout the United States and abroad. Her work can be found in collections in the US, Europe, Japan and Australia. Writing in the New York Times, Vivian Raynor called Mills’ work “striking” and noted that her use of color is reminiscent of Richard Diebenkorn’s.
In her aquatints and monotypes, Mills focuses on the tension between the forward and backward pull of colors and tries to convey the sense of mystery she feels when she works. She has written that her art often evokes “windows, entrances or exits” and that the “push and pull” between the colors makes her work breathe.
