Gifts & Donations

The recently passed American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 positively impacts Charitable Gifts made by IRA distributions in the following ways for the 2012 tax year:

IRA rollover gifts made by January 31, 2013, may qualify as a 2012 gift.

Withdrawals taken in December of 2012 may qualify for transfer to charity and be treated as a charitable distribution.

Additionally, the IRA Rollover Provision has been reinstated for 2013 allowing tax-free distributions to be made through December 31, 2013.

The IRA Charitable Rollover provision allows donors age 70 ½ or older to give nonprofit entities such as the Roxbury Library up to $100,000 per year from their IRAs, tax-free (i.e., excludable from gross income).

There are rules and limitations, so please check with your advisors to decide if this is an appropriate gift for you.

Friends of the Roxbury Library

The Friends of the Library was founded in 1989 to support and promote library services and activities. The Friends raise money to supplement the library budget through a yearly membership campaign and special events, such as the book sale that takes place each June. While the Library Board of Trustees maintains the library building and staffing, the Friends provide the library with books, DVDs, audio books, e-books, museum passes, hospitality for the art show receptions and funding for children’s and adult programs.  Our “Friends” help to make our library a very special place.

Their newsletter, Bookmark, is published quarterly and is mailed to Roxbury residents.

To join the Friends, mail a donation to: Friends of the Roxbury Library P.O. Box 74 Roxbury, CT 06783
