Children’s Events

  The summer reading program- “Fizz, Boom, Read”

The Grand finale of this year’s summer reading program, “Fizz, Boom, Read” was held on Saturday, August 9 at 11:00.  Robert Rivest presented “Science in Motion,” an interactive mixture of movement and comedy.   Raffle and door prizes were awarded to those in attendance and refreshments were served.

Mrs. Sapse, Children’s Services Coordinator, would like to thank the following generous sponsors: Applebee’s; Carvel; Connecticut Trolley Museum; Danbury Railway Museum; Discovery Museum; Essex Steam Train & Riverboat; Everwonder; Friendly’s; Imagine Nation; Lore’s Lanes; Lutz Children’s Museum; Mark Twain Museum; Mystic Seaport; New Children’s Museum; Pottery Piazza; Quassy Amusement Park; Shore Line Trolley Museum; Target;  and the Friends of the Roxbury Library. 

A donation of $1. for every 10 books read by our children was sent to John Prescod, Executive Director of ConnectiKids.  The mission of ConnectiKids is “To inspire Hartford’s children to make positive choices, embrace high expectations and fulfill their potential by providing successful mentors, individualized tutoring, enriching activities, and stimulating environments.

Do you have a canine friend who would enjoy being read to by our children??? Please call the library at 860-350-2181 to volunteer your dog for these events.
