“The Way of Water,” an exhibit of oil paintings by Joanne Conant.
Conant’s paintings provide views of the sea with the clouds and the wind currents that move the water. Especially interesting are her close-up paintings of waves. Clouds moving with the wind, waves in constant motion, the solidity of rock and the tranquility of trees and landscape are the particular subjects that inspire Conant’s imagination.
Regarding Conant’s paintings, Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury has noted the “generous though adroit application of paint (bringing) attention to texture and inner vision.”
Exhibit spaces throughout Connecticut have displayed Conant’s work and many of her paintings have been selected for juried shows. In addition, her paintings are included in numerous private collections.
